Airline holding hiring event at PHL Airport; 200 pilot positions available

Any pilots looking for a job are in luck because an airline that recently opened a hub in Philadelphia is looking to fill at least 200 new positions by the end of the year.

Maryland-based Piedmont Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines (NASDAQ: AAL), opened a crew base this year at the Philadelphia International Airport, the airline’s fourth hub in the United States overall alongside Harrisburg; Salisbury, Maryland; and Roanoke, Virginia.

Piedmont now plans to hire 200 pilots this year and is expanding its fleet with the addition of Embraer 145 regional jets.

To fill those positions, the airline on Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will be hosting a pilot hiring event at the PHL Airport Marriott at Terminal B.

“We are excited to give pilots a chance to come out, meet our team and get more information about our company because we have amazing opportunities for them,” said Tyler Tenbrink, recruiting manager at Piedmont.

All new pilots will receive a $15,000 signing bonus, Piedmont announced this week. Pilots, in seniority order, have the ability to automatically get a job flying for American Airlines after flying for Piedmont since it’s a subsidiary of American, President and CEO Lyle Hogg told the Philadelphia Business Journal earlier this year.

Hogg said the airline has plans to make Philadelphia its largest hub yet.
