This afternoon i got tagged by someone with twitter handle @ceejayesq.
Going through the tweets below, i observed that the subject was centred on a passenger who was alleged to be unruly onboard Air Peace and was eventually offloaded from the flight.
This was my response.
Thank you @ceejayesq for bringing this to my attention.
ALL Emergency Exits are fitted with seats for easy operation in an event of an emergency by able bodied and physically alert passengers. That is the reason why, during boarding, Crew Members ensure that they allow only physically fit and passengers who are WILLING to operate the exits in an event of an emergency to sit there and they are briefed accordingly.
Children, Obese, physically challenged, pregnant, infants and the elderly are not allowed to sit at the emergency Exits.
You’ll notice that the aircraft manufacturers created extra space at the emergency exit areas to allow for seamless evacuation. These seats are fitted for emergency purposes. The exits needs to be manned. Unfortunately crew members can not sit on all exits.
The Crew members are primarily onboard for safety reasons. If we can just listen to them, we can avoid conflict.
Although, i wasn’t there.. so i may not know the nature of communication between the crew and the concerned passenger that resulted to this incident.
However, according to Aviation regulations, the captain reserves the right to offload any perceived unruly passenger from flight, or anyone that could pose a threat to the aircraft, the crew, the passengers and safe operation of a flight.
What are your thoughts?
