Aviator of the day- Bayo Manuwa Jnr

Meet our Aviator of the day: Bayo Manuwa Jr. Bayo once worked with Air Nigeria, Arik Air, Discovery Air, Azman Air and currently a senior first officer with Air Peace.

Bayo is a very young, vibrant, bubbly and restless young pilot. There is hardly a dull moment with him.

In this interview bayo reveals alot about himself.  Read:

You read Geology,  how did you end up in flying? what was the attraction?

“It had always been my dream to fly since childhood, my uncle is a pilot. CP of Medview. My mom insisted on me getting a degree first so I decided on Geology as I felt it will give me the opportunity to work outdoors/offshore“

How old were you when you started flying?

“I went to flight school at 23 for one year in South Africa, got my first job at 26”

You are so young and happily married with kids. what informed your decision to marry so early?

“For one, I’m my mother’s only child so there was a bit of pressure from her. Also, I found someone I was in love with and I had to go away for a year to flight school, I didn’t wanna lose her so we decided to get married before I left”

How have you been able to manage your home with a job that takes you away from home most times?

“I’ll definitely give kudos to my wife for keeping the home together, she’s a strong woman and does a very good job of running the home in my absence. I try to spend as much time as I can with the kids while I’m home though.

How long have you been flying? Do you enjoy flying?

“Been flying for 5 years. I love flying, when I don’t fly for a few days, I start to feel uneasy. I don’t see myself doing any other thing for a while. It’s a passion”

What is your advise to young aspiring pilots.

“Dreams do come true, study hard and get qualified. That first job won’t be easy, don’t sit around waiting for your first pilot job, take a job in another field, that’ll make you stand out when you get an interview. Network with working pilots as much as you can.”

Bayo can be aptly described as a young achiever. An extrovert and a jolly good fellow. He has alot going on for him. Kick starting a flying career at a relatively young age and being happily married with kids is not an easy Combo.

Bayo is quite inspiring to young men out there.
