Nigeria’s Med-View Airline eyes Accra scissors hub

Med-View Airline (VL, Kano) has announced plans to take advantage of Ghana’s liberal air traffic rights policy and open a regional scissors hub in Accra later this year.

The Head of the Nigerian carrier’s Flight Operations, Captain Godfrey Ogbogu, said in a statement that with the arrival of added aircraft, Med-View would look to increase its coverage of West and Central Africa through the Accra hub.

“We operate over forty flights per week, we have over 14 approvals to Accra, we are pursuing a rigorous fleet expansion plan that will take us far. By July this year, we will take delivery of another B737-800 apart from others that will see us expanding our international operations,” he was quoted by ThisDay. “Accra is very important to us. We have concluded plans to operate to Dakar, Monrovia Roberts and Freetown via Accra any moment from May. We’ve reinforced our frequencies by up to 30% compare to 2015.”

Med-View currently operates three B737-400s (one leased from Air Explore (ED, Bratislava)), one B737-500, and one B767-300(ER) on flights throughout Nigeria as well as to Ghana, the United Kingdom, and Saudi Arabia.
