Meet flight dispatcher at Dana Air.

Please introduce yourself, your name, where are you from and age.

My name is Moyosore Ajimatanrareje. I’m from Oyo state and in my thirties. I have a Bsc. in Zoology from Lagos State University, Advanced Certificate in Leadership from Daystar Leadership Academy (Nigeria) and a Diploma Certificate in Leadership and Management from Shaw Academy (USA).

What inspired you to venture into this once male dominated Career.

Growing up, I wanted to be a flight attendant and I worked towards it. In 2008, after a rigorous interview and medical process, I got an offer from a major airline. After I received that offer, I realized that I had lost interest in that career option and decided to seek counsel. It was at that point that a friend of mine who was training to be a flight dispatcher at the time introduced me to Capt. Dele Ore. After spending 30 minutes with him, I became eager to enroll for the flight dispatcher course.

Give us a brief career history. What schools did you attend?

I am a versatile and multi-faceted aviator with over 10 years of invaluable cognate experience in the industry. Based on a consistent rise from the nadir of my careers as a trainee operations control officer at IRS Airlines, to OneDOT Aviation; a foremost indigenous executive airline, to a stint in the Crew Resource Management Department and ultimately a certified flight dispatcher with the multi-award winning, Dana Airlines Limited.

Was it a dream actually or you stumbled into it?

It wasn’t a dream; it was an interest that grew over the years.

How many years have you spent in the industry?

12yrs and counting…

What is your lowest moment in your Career history?

My lowest point was when I was asked to either resign or have my appointment terminated over a matter beyond me.

What is your most memorable moment?

I have a lot of memorable days… I create them. Lol

How have you been able to balance your work life and family?

Balancing work, life and family takes discipline. It is hard work but I am responsible to ensure that one does not suffer for the other.

What challenges have you encountered on the job and on your journey to the top, especially as female?

The look of male and female colleague who try to use my emotional strength as a tool against me. I have trained myself over the years to understand it as a skill… Empathy.

What advice do you have for the aspiring young women out there who may want to tow your line?

Dear aspiring female dispatcher, dream big. The profession can be limiting (career growth) but dare to dream, be teachable, be wise and do what is right by the book.

Though being a female flight dispatcher takes a lot more courage and focus, above it all, your determination and strength will help you stay STRONG, that is one thing all women possess.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

In a few years, I want to be a consultant for workplace leadership and development in the aviation industry. Ultimately, I want to be the Minister of Aviation.
