Meet our pretty female flight dispatcher,. Patiencenoraa Aaron, she works with Azman Air.
Read her story and be inspired!
I am Patiencenoraa Aaron, from kogi state. A graduate of Communication Technology. My Passion for Aviation started way back after High School. Due to my love for travelling and the Emirates Cabin crew uniform (the fine carriage, beautiful and Smart appearance). It became very clear to me as to what i wanted to do with my life, the drive made me go make enquiry at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria; where I was introduced to the flight dispatchers’ program of which caught my interest. I applied and enrolled in the training program (Standard flight operations Course) 2011. It was a 25 weeks program which included 3weeks on the Job training(OJT), afterwards 90days OJT, licensing Exams, after which I got Licensed (NCAA Certification) and retained at the one famous airlines in Nigeria, Chanchangi Airlines Ltd. in 2012 till when the airline stopped operations. I moved onto Azman Air Services, where I continued to practice till date. .
It has been a challenging profession but my passion for the job has kept me stable🙂. I have also kept up with my annual recurrent training to further develop myself in the profession and updated with modern best practice. I love my job as a flight dispatcher, it intrigues my mental ability to be able to work efficiently even under pressure.
Well, the program it self is challenging, one needs a cool head and determination to actually pull through.
In life there’s always challenges, from finance to other personal challenges. Before the program and during the program, you will still face other challenges that comes with the rigours of undertaking such a course, we are talking time and mental readiness.
Challenges are part of life, you can’t take that away especially when you’re trying to undertake a bigger endeavour.. For a flight dispatcher is a different ball game entirely, as first, you have to have a great passion for aviation. What I’d say to aspiring female dispatchers is this.
Its an interesting career once you have the passion for it ;and be ready to work under pressure, thinking outside the box as well as making fast decisions ensuring Safety & Efficiency. You’ll definitely love the job and it will be easy for you.
The job comes with its own unique challenges as most times you’re engaging with the flight deck crew, cabin crew, engineers/maintenance crew, control tower, radio room, ground support and logistics. You have to be professional at all times, be attentive and listen to details.
There’s nothing as fulfilling as having a well coordinated operation before after take off and after landing. Being a great support to the flight deck crew especially is part of the job and pilots love a smart flight dispatcher.
