Launch of the Migrant Resource Centre, Benin City

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment (FMLE) in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) within the framework of the European Union funded project “Migration Governance and Reintegration in Nigeria” established additional Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) in Edo State to complements the support services being provided by the MRCs established in Abuja and Lagos state within the framework of the national 10th EDF project “Promoting Better Migration Management in Nigeria”.

The centre will serve as a “one-stop shop” where intending, actual and returning migrants can access relevant migration information and a wide range of services through direct assistance, or online services to enable them make informed decisions thereby minimizing the risks and maximizing the benefits of their migration experience.

The establishment of the MRC in Benin City is strategic considering the high numbers of returning migrants from Edo state. The centre will support government’s efforts in managing organized labour migration in and from Nigeria.
