RAF fighter jets have escorted a Pakistan International Airlines aircraft to Stansted airport.
British police said the civilian flight was diverted to Stansted due to reports of a disruptive passenger.
“This is not believed to be a hijack situation or terror matter,” Essex Police said in a statement.
“The plane is currently at the airport and officers are making enquiries.”
An RAF spokesman said: “The RAF can confirm Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon aircraft were launched this afternoon from RAF Coningsby to intercept a civilian aircraft.
“The aircraft was intercepted and safely escorted to Stansted airport.”
Flight tracking websites said PIA flight PK757 from Lahore had been due to land at Heathrow.
