Kate Middleton Shocks Fellow Passengers by Flying Commercial

She really is one of the most down-to-earth royals ever. After completing her first royal solo trip abroad this week, Kate Middleton hoped on board a commercial airliner for her return flight to London.

No private jet for this lady — she opted for the 7:15 p.m. British Airways flight instead.

After a long day in the Netherlands of meeting with King Willem-Alexander, visiting an art gallery, and participating on a panel, Duchess Catherine was likely eager to get home to her brood. We wouldn’t have thought twice about her flying privately — she is royalty after all. There are perks, you know.

Instead, she was escorted onto the commercial jet just moments before takeoff, wearing the same smart Catherine Walker skirt suit she’d been wearing all day. The other passengers were of course shocked and delighted, and it’s reported that a deluge of mobile phones were spotted as they tried to catch a snap of the princess taking her assigned seat.

According to a source, bodyguards escorted Kate to her seat shortly before the 50-minute flight took off. The insider told the Daily Mail he had “never seen so many iPhones pop up at once.”

Once the flight landed, the princess was whisked away by security before the rest of the plane could de-board, and taken to a car waiting just for her on the tarmac. What were we saying about perks? Somehow, we are just fine with that.-the STIR
