Nigerians in the UK came together on Thursday night March 28, 2024 in jubilation to mark the inaugural flight of Nigerian airline Air Peace to the London route.
Community leaders and business delegates gathered at a bustling business cocktail event hosted by Air Peace, attended by top management, community leaders, and esteemed guests.
According to spokespersons for the Nigerian Diaspora Direct Investment Summit (NDDIS), Doyin Ola and Maureen Layokun, approximately 200 guests were treated to an evening of wine and hors d’oeuvres at the prestigious Clermont, Charing Cross, Strand, London.
The event, organized by NDDIS, served as a prelude to Air Peace’s commencement of flight operations between London Gatwick and Lagos on March 30, 2024.
Representing the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner, Amb Cyprian Heen, Mrs. Ubong Johnson affirmed the High Commission’s unwavering support for Air Peace as it embarked on its London journey.
The business cocktail welcomed representatives from the Nigerian High Commission, UK Nigerian community champions, business leaders, and notable figures, all joining hands to celebrate this milestone.
Prince Bimbo Roberts Folayan, the event’s convener, hailed Air Peace as a beacon of national pride, lauding its founder, Dr. Allen Onyema, for his altruism and patriotism, notably exemplified by the airlift of stranded Nigerians from Sudan in 2023.
He urged the community to throw their weight behind Air Peace, ensuring its competitiveness on the global stage.
Sindy Foster, Principal Managing Partner of Avaero Capital Partners and Air Peace consultant, led a toast to Dr. Allen Onyema, coinciding with his birthday, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
Top leaders of the Nigerian community, including Ayo Akinfe, Pastor Niyi Zacchaeus, Dr. Boma Douglas, Auntie Kate Anolue, Jenny Okafor, and Chief Anthony Ajidua, rallied support for Air Peace, urging Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to choose Air Peace for their travels.
Ikenna Nnabuife, Deputy Marketing Manager of Air Peace, presented various options and incentives for individual and corporate customers, addressing inquiries during the interactive session.
The event witnessed the presence of dignitaries such as Femi Okutubo, Prince Mike Abiola, Dr. Alistair Soyode, Hauwa Yussuf, Deejay Abass, Dr. Adeola Adeleye-Fasubaa, and Dr. Pauline Long, among others, highlights the significance of Air Peace’s venture.
The event was a resounding success, drawing a crowd of dignitaries and leaders from the Nigerian Diaspora.
Media personalities like Femi Okutubo (Nigerian Trumpet) and Prince Mike Abiola (African Voice) were present, alongside Dr. Alistair Soyode (founder of Europe’s first Black TV channel).
Representatives from the government and entertainment sectors also joined the festivities.
The presence of African beauty queens, Miss Africa UK and Miss Pride of Africa UK, added a touch of glamour to the stimulating evening.
