Passenger dies on flight from Israel to New York

A passenger on board a direct flight from Tel Aviv to New York City died suddenly Sunday night, Yeshiva World News reported.

The passenger, a 65-year old resident of Flatbush in Brooklyn, was reportedly on her way home to the US after having attended a Bar Mitzvah in Israel.

The incident occurred on El Al Flight 11 from Ben Gurion Airport bound for New York’s JFK.

Relatives of the passenger who accompanied her on the flight home say she suddenly stopped breathing in the middle of the flight and died.

The woman’s family said she had been suffering from a medical condition in recent months and had spent time in the hospital.

When the plane landed in New York early Monday morning, members of the local Jewish burial society were waiting at the airport to ensure the body receives proper treatment in keeping with Jewish tradition.
