The projected doubling of international air traffic volumes represents a tremendous opportunity for socio-economic development, and supports the prioritized development and retention of the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP).

So confirmed ICAO’s Secretary General, Dr. Fang Liu, the Director General of UNESCO, Dr. Irina Bokova, and Dr. Qian Tang, UNESCO’s Assistant Director General for Education, during their recent bilateral discussion at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on 28 October 2016.

The need to attract more and more women in order to bridge the gender gap in the international civil aviation sector was also identified, and Drs. Liu, Bokova and Tang agreed that the two UN agencies should enhance their cooperation and coordination to support the implementation of all current and future priorities and projects.
