Recently, it was Captain Akinsete’s birthday. mamajsavaitionblog saw the moment as an opportunity to have this chat with him. He has put in so much as a Pilot in the aviation industry in Nigeria and is worth celebrating. Meet our Aviator of the day, Captain Stephen Akinsete.
When we mention your name in the industry, the first thing we hear is, “He is very Courteous.”Capt. where did you acquire your mannerism from? On the job or is innate?
“Well, I just enjoy being myself.”
Tell us how you found yourself in the flying world.
“I had nursed that ambition, and eventually got the opportunity.”
We also hear you are a Courageous, rugged Pilot and you are good at what you do. Captain, what drives you?
“I do enjoy my profession, and always strive to do things to the highest level, in everything I do.”
How do you see the aviation industry in Nigeria today?
“The Aviation Industry in Nigeria has been going through ups and downs carrying the stakeholders along. We do need an Airline, built on a very solid base. This will set the standard, for the other companies to follow, and also help to create careers for the people and not just jobs for the people.“
What advice do you have for young pilots and intending ones?
“My advice for people who want to get into the Aviation Industry is to look inwards. We do have a big asset in the country, the NCATC Zaria. The Institution has undergone a remarkable transformation into a world class facility. When I visited the place this year, I was shocked at what I met on the ground. Believe me, I felt like starting my flight training again, just to be able to attend the school, and use their facilities. The standard is so high. Besides that, due to the foreign exchange situation in the country, you will get more for your money. The flight training is planned for 18 months, and they do meet or maybe exceed by few months if at all. If you don’t believe me, go to their website, www.ncat.gov.ng.”
What is it that we don’t know about Captain Stephen Akinsete?
“I am just what you see. Not more or less.”
When you are not flying how do you unwind?
“I do enjoy reading to gain more knowledge about my job, and I also listen to music and also playing Instruments.”
Captain Akinseste, has worked previously @Adc Airlines, Virgin Nigeria Airways, Aero and currently with Air Peace.
mamajsavaitionaviationblog wishes him the best and safe skies always…
