FedEx cargo plane catches fire at Fort Lauderdale Airport

Ah! Another Plane fire?…

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A FedEx cargo plane caught fire on the runway at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Friday.

According to the FAA, the landing gear on FedEx 910, a DC-10 aircraft, collapsed as it was on the runway shortly after landing.

The plane was flying from Memphis, Tennessee.

Both pilots on the plane were able to escape, according to WPLG-TV in Miami.

Videos posted to social media show smoke and flames coming from the plane as it sat on a grassy area off the runway.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire quickly with foam.

A ground stop was issued at the airport and delays were expected.

The fire happened on the same day that an American Airlines plane caught fire at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. At least 8 people were injured in that incident.
