Happy Children’s Day to Our Children

I remember with nostalgia when i was a child. Children’s day was characterised by different activities which to us then was great fun. We would walk miles to the stadium for the ceremonial match past, with the governor of the state present. We had Competition amongst participating schools. We were taken on excursion trips to the Zoo and Museun. And then the desert, Lol…we had special meals for that special day. Wonder what that special meal was? RICE! OMG! Children were free minded then and related well with their peers..

Today the tradition has changed. No more match past. That has been replaced with a vist to Silverbird Cinema, Domino Pizza, Shawarma, kids zone and Shoprite. Sadly, the government of today hardly organises any activity for the children. Talk about evolution.

Here is wishing our children a Happy Children’s day celebrations. It’s your day. May God continue to protect them.
