Meet our Aviator of the day: Ayub Kambinda.

Who is Ayub Kambinda?

“A fun person to be around. Very caring, willing to help anyone at any time though I do not like to be taken advantage of. Straight forward and systematic person. Ayub works hard and plays harder. What you see is what you get!”

received_10153380612732811As a foreigner here, what is your impression about Nigerians to foreign Crew?

“I have blended so well here sometimes it’s hard for people to take me as a foreigner and I don’t count myself as a foreigner. Otherwise Nigerians expect the foreign crew to carry themselves in certain ways. They have the impression that foreign crew are favoured and thus go about following each and every move they make.”

FB_IMG_1462884920739As a young handsome pilot, what challenges have you faced on the job?

“Well, am flattered! But thanks will take it as a compliment. Haven’t faced challenges perse I guess because I am a man and I carry myself well and have my principles in place. But sometimes people throw themselves at you and when you do not act you look arrogant and proud. And that’s what most people think I am.”

How do you see the Aviation industry in Nigeria?

“Well Aviation industry is fast growing and very competitive in Nigeria. Very well run and managed by Nigerians themselves.”

FB_IMG_1462884881542What is that bit we don’t know about Ayub?. How do you unwind?

“Ayub is very systematic and you call it very programmed. My schedule from dawn to dusk pretty much fixed or the same.  Ayub is very sensitive and emotional. I unwind with a nice meal meal and a bottle of Star and on very stressful days with some gin and Tonic. Mind you only when i am off duty.”

What is your advice for aspiring young Pilots?

“Hey they just need to follow their dreams and love doing what they like doing which I trust is flying. Flying is not work it’s a hobby. And once you embrace the hobby however the turbulence life will bring they will persevere and soar high. Watching the world from the heights/altitudes.”

Ayub has worked with Air Nigeria, Air Peace and currently with Azman Air .

Safe skies..
