Former NAL Pilot Capt Tito Passes On

The former Nigeria Airways Limited (NAL) pilot and the pioneer President of Captain DafiekoSama Flight Safety Foundation, Capt. Tito Augustine Omaghomi is dead.
A statement signed by the Vice President, ‘The Sama Foundation’, Mr Dafe –Urhobo Sama stated that Capt Tito as he was popularly called died on Sunday, January 3, 2016.
DafiekoSama Flight Safety Foundation was established in 1998 in memory of his colleague, late Capt. DafiekoSama, who died in the 1996 Aviation Development Company (ADC) airplane crash in Epe area of Lagos State.
The late Tito, who is from Delta state was born in June 6, 1944 and died on Sunday, January 3, 2016.
He disclosed that Tito worked briefly with Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and later went to the United States of America to study flying as a pilot.
He flew with Nigeria Airways Limited (NAL) for over 25 years and at a stage in his career, he flew some past heads of state while he was in the Presidential Fleet.
According to Sama the late Tito as a co-pilot flew Fokker F27, Beoing B707 adding as a captain he flew Fokker 28, Boeing 737,Beoing727 and Airbus A310 and that in he flew as a pilot with over 25,000hrs flying time.

The late Tito was also a certified Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Instructor, Training Captain and Type Rating Examiner, Director Ground Equipment, Nigeria Airways Limited, Board Member of Nigeria Airports Authority (NAA) that later became Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria(FAAN) and Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCo), representing NAHCo as Technical Adviser.
Sama stated that the late Tito was also an active member of Rotary International, member of International Aeronautical Society and that before his death Tito was also patron to various orphanage homes.
The late Tito, he said is survived by wife, children, brothers, sisters and other relatives.
The Vice President stated that the burial arrangements would be announced by the Omaghomi family.
