Who is more important?

One controversial issue that has remained unsolved in the industry is “Who is more important in the workforce? Or should i rephrase it:  ” is one Role more important than the other?”

Whilst we can not expect renumeration to be the same but the obvious fact still remains that most operators place more value on some roles than others. How can we explain a situation whereby some cadre of staffs get paid their salaries at the end of each month while others wait endlessly. Is that not worrisome? Have we thought about the safety and security implications inherent?

My perception about the work enviroment can be likened to a Chain like structure: It goes that if the Ticketing staffs do not sell tickets there will be no passengers to fly from point A to B. Passengers can not board without the aid of the check in and boarding agents. Until the Engineers carry out maintenance work and certify the Aircraft technically fit for operations, the Crew will not accept the Aircraft for flight operations. If the Aircraft is accepted by the Crew, boarding may not commence until caterers load catering onboard. After boarding the passengers, flight will not depart until the baggage handlers have loaded all bags and the Dispatcher has brought in the necessary flight documents to be signed off by the Captain. With this illustration it is clear that for any flight to operate so many elements come together. These elements can be said to be interdependent on each other as they need to be harnessed to achieve a common goal: An efficient and safe operations. Succinctly put, we can not say a human body is complete without the Head, neck, eyes , legs, hands, nose and all the internal Organs.

The question is, “Who is more important? Or better put; is one role more important than the other?. Or is it a case of what George Orwell’s stated in his book Animal Farm; “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others”?
