Incident: Germanwings A319 at Hamburg on Dec 20th 2015, smoke in cockpit due to air conditioning

A Germanwings Airbus A319-100, registration D-AGWA performing flight 4U-30 from Cologne to Hamburg (Germany), was on approach to Hamburg’s runway 15 when on final approach the crew reported smoke in the cockpit due to a defective air conditioning system. The crew continued for a safe landing, emergency services had already reached their stand by positions and checked the aircraft, the crew subsequently taxied the aircraft to the gate with emergency services in trail.

A passenger reported that the passenger were unaware of anything wrong with the aircraft until after landing when emergency services surrounded the aircraft for a couple a minutes and subsequently followed the aircraft to the gate. The captain subsequently announced that there had been an alarm indicating the air conditioning had overheated and needed to be shut down.

A listener on frequency reported the crew declared emergency on final approach reporting smoke in the cockpit due to a defective air conditioning system.

The return flight 4U-31 was cancelled.
