Accident: Republic E175 near Norfolk on Jul 29th 2009, turbulence injures flight attendant.

A Republic Airlines Embraer ERJ-175, registration N135HQ performing flight RW-3199 from Norfolk,VA to Charlotte,NC (USA) with 83 passengers and 4 crew, was climbing through FL220 out of Norfolk, when the aircraft encountered severe turbulence. The airplane continued to Charlotte, NC for an accelerated safe landing about 11 minutes ahead of estimated arrival time.
The NTSB reported in their preliminary report of Mar 3rd 2010, that one flight attendant received serious injuries in the turbulence encounter.
On Nov 11th 2015 the NTSB released their final report concluding the probable cause of the accident was:
an inadvertent encounter with convective turbulence that resulted in serious injuries to a flight attendant.
The NTSB reported that the aircraft was climbing through FL220 deviating around a convective cell, the captain already had released cabin crew to start cabin service but still kept the fasten seat belt sign illuminated, when the aircraft encountered turbulence causing both flight attendants to be thrown to the floor with one falling on top of the other. One flight attendant received a fractured bone in her left foot, the other received minor injuries.
