More screens, more choices: Delta equips 600th aircraft with seat-back entertainment

Delta has installed its 600th aircraft with seat-back entertainment, fulfilling its end-of-year commitment early and giving more customers than ever convenient access to free in-flight entertainment on Delta Studio.

“We continue to invest in seat-back screens, because customers continue to tell us they’re important,” said Tim Mapes, Delta’s Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “With seat-back screens, customers don’t have to choose between using their phones or watching a movie. Whether they want to work, relax, or a little bit of both — we want to give our customers the ability to choose and make the most of their time in flight.”

Delta offers customers more aircraft with seatback entertainment than any airline in the world.

Delta Studio is free to all customers in all cabins, and consistently provides the best depth and breadth of content in the skies, from its lineup of best picture nominees during awards season to having nearly all of the top-grossing box office hits soon after they hit theaters.

This month, in partnership with NEON, Delta Studio is bringing the highly anticipated documentary “Three Identical Strangers” to customers at 30,000 feet – at the same time the documentary is debuting in theaters on the ground.

This offering is the first of its kind for Delta Studio and speaks to the airline’s continued efforts to bring new and innovative offerings to customers. The in-flight entertainment system currently offers:

  • More than 300 movies, including around 80 foreign film titles
  • 550 TV show episodes
  • 12 channels of live satellite TV on select flights
  • More than 2,500 songs
  • A selection of podcasts and games like in-flight trivia

In addition to investing in seat-back entertainment, customers can choose to stream Delta Studio to their personal devices on the airline’s entire mainline fleet and most regional aircraft.

Delta Studio is part of the airline’s continued commitment to offer customers a suite of products that connect life in the air to life on the ground, from free messaging to the expansion of high-speed Wi-Fi and more.

This seat-back expansion is part of Delta’s multi-billion dollar investment in the overall customer experience. In the past several years, the airline has made significant enhancements to the Main Cabin experience including free Main Cabin meals on select coast-to-coast routes, free mobile messaging, free in-flight entertainment, upgraded Main Cabin snacks, the addition of sparkling wine, access to Wi-Fi on nearly all flights, enhanced blankets and refreshed Flight Fuel food-for-purchase options. Recent upgrades to the Delta One in-flight experience include new chef-designed Delta One menus curated by Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo for flights from LAX, refreshed TUMI amenity kits with Kiehl’s products, and an Alessi-designed collection of serviceware.
